This optional marine water flow switch is designed to protect marine air conditioning systems by confirming proper water circulation before allowing the unit to operate. While most marine A/C units include high-pressure protection, a flow switch provides early, preventative shutdown when water flow is restricted or absent—helping prevent overheating, compressor stress, and premature system failure.
Installed inline on the water supply line, the flow switch monitors actual water movement through the system. If flow drops below safe levels due to a clogged strainer, air lock, weak pump, or blocked thru-hull, the switch immediately interrupts operation before high pressure can develop.
This makes the flow switch especially important for shared pump systems, multi-unit installations, and vessels operating in debris-heavy or warm water environments. Or, for customers who use their units primarily on HEAT mode.
